Although 3D printing of end use parts is still in its infancy, it has allowed early adopters the opportunity to iterate faster than their competitors and bring more complex products to market without the cost and lead-time of injection molding. The Twoolhead makes production printing more accessible by doubling the production output of the LulzBot® TAZ, one of the highest rated 3D printers on the market.
Designed using open source software by the Colorado Printing Project, the Twoolhead is open source hardware with all source material available under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. It combines two high quality E3D printheads to print two identical objects simultaneously at the quality expected from LulzBot® printers. All Twoolheads are manufactured in Littleton, Colorado, USA using premium materials.
The Twoolhead currently comes in 3 different nozzle sizes:
0.5mm nozzle size - Perfect for fine details
Matching the quality of the stock TAZ printhead, this size is perfect for detailed parts and has an output double that of the stock LulzBot(R) TAZ.
0.8mm nozzle size - Just right for functional parts
This is our go-to nozzle size for the majority of parts printed in-house. By increasing the nozzle size by the width of a hair, output is nearly doubled and part strength is greatly increased. This size is perfect for functional parts and has an output roughly four times that of the stock LulzBot(R) TAZ.
1.2mm nozzle size - Ludicroustruder
This is our all out print speed version of the Twoolhead. Utilizing the LulzBot LongBlock hotends from the LulzBot MOARsturder, this version of the Twoolhead can hit nearly 200g/hr of extrusion. Perfect for large parts, or those that need to be as strong as possible. This size is perfect for large functional parts and has an output nearly 10 times that of the stock LulzBot(R) TAZ.
